Disclaimer

\n\nThis is a conteinerized version of Ubuntu 20.04, with the XFCE Desktop Environment installed, all configured to be accessible via RDP.\n\nThe image is slightly big **1.67GB** , I tried to keep it as little as possible by installing only the required packages to make it work as intended \n\n
\n\n

Quick Start

\n\n

Pull the image

\n\n docker pull doctorkirk/ubuntu-xrdp \n\n

Run the Container

\n\n

\ndocker run -dit --name ubuntu-xrdp \\
\n-p 3389:3389 \\
\n-p 2222:22 \\
\n--shm-size 1g \\
\n--privileged \\
\ndoctorkirk/ubuntu-xrdp\n

\n\nNote: Don't get below the **1GB** of shm_size otherwhise some apps might crash\n\n
\n\n

Adding a User

\n\nThere are no default users defined beside root, in order to create your own you only need to get inside the container \n\n docker exec -it ubuntu-xrdp bash \n\nand add a user, by issuing the command\n\n adduser username \n\nYou'll need to fill in your password twice, and then you can leave blank all the others fields (just hit **ENTER** a few time)\n\nHere's an example\n\n

\nroot@8bf95a4044af:/# adduser ale\nAdding user `ale' ...\nAdding new group `ale' (1000) ...\nAdding new user `ale' (1000) with group `ale' ...\nCreating home directory `/home/ale' ...\nCopying files from `/etc/skel' ...\nNew password: \nRetype new password: \npasswd: password updated successfully\nChanging the user information for ale\nEnter the new value, or press ENTER for the default\n\tFull Name []: \n\tRoom Number []: \n\tWork Phone []: \n\tHome Phone []: \n\tOther []: \nIs the information correct? [Y/n] Y\nroot@8bf95a4044af:/# \n

\n\n
\n\n

Connection

\n\nAfter adding your user, open your preferred RDP client and connect to the container.\n\nPlease note that you have to use the host IP, not the container one\n\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_75":11,"_76":77},"enabled","rules",[78],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_82":22,"_83":11,"_84":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",1195249172,"orgData","recentTags",[91],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_50":117,"_118":94,"_119":33,"_120":56,"_57":121,"_122":123,"_124":108,"_125":117,"_126":66,"_127":22},"content_type","creator",8868956,"full_size",611903075,"id",160695631,"images",[101],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":48,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":48,"_114":-5,"_115":96,"_63":66,"_116":-5},"architecture","amd64","digest","sha256:aa353d990308b3e984485eb9570ffd8689e8c2f36e698729143e9b02877be16a","features","last_pulled","2026-10-26T08:08:26.765827298Z","last_pushed","2021-08-01T23:31:16Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2021-08-01T23:31:15.361782Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",15029286,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxRunInCloud","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":142,"_149":150,"_136":159,"_160":11},{"_40":143,"_42":144,"_45":46,"_47":48,"_49":11,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":145,"_57":35,"_32":33,"_58":59,"_60":44,"_61":62,"_63":64,"_65":66,"_67":-5,"_68":62,"_69":70,"_71":11,"_72":33,"_73":146,"_79":11,"_80":148,"_85":33,"_86":87},[],[44],[56],{"_75":11,"_76":147},[78],{"_82":22,"_83":11,"_84":11},"tags",{"_151":64,"_152":-5,"_153":-5,"_154":155},"count","next","previous","results",[156],{"_92":44,"_93":94,"_95":96,"_97":98,"_99":157,"_50":117,"_118":94,"_119":33,"_120":56,"_57":121,"_122":123,"_124":108,"_125":117,"_126":66,"_127":22},[158],{"_102":103,"_104":105,"_106":48,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_113":48,"_114":-5,"_115":96,"_63":66,"_116":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
